Earlier today Dr. Funk, medical director with Volunteers of America’s Senior Community Care in Montrose, testified before a U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging and voiced his support of Program of All-Inclusive Care For the Elderly known as PACE.   Dr. Funk endorsed the expansion of access to PACE programs for people who are “dual eligible” for both Medicare and Medicaid based on a combination of low income, age and/or disability.  Right now those PACE programs are only available to those 55 and older and are only offered in a limited number of communities.
