Congress has extended the Secure Rural Schools Act which provides federal dollars to counties for certain uses.  Under this act funds will be provided to support projects which restore and/or improve forest lands.  The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison Resource Advisory Committee is seeking applications for these projects.  About $180 thousand is anticipated to be available for projects this year.  These projects are expected to benefit forest health, fish, wildlife, watersheds and other resources as well as maintain roads and other infrastructure.
