After the Friday shootings in Aurora Colorado has seen a sharp increase in gun sales. And over the last few days firearms background checks have nearly doubled in just a couple of days from the same time last year. Much of those background checks were made either by telephone or on the internet from variety of gun dealers which then went to CBI’s instacheck unit. CBI’s Instacheck conducts background checks on individuals who purchase firearms in the state from federally licensed firearms dealers. Mesa County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Heather Benjamin also explains that CBI’s data shows increases in concealed handgun carry permits as well.
