Public officials are starting to mull over the idea of selling alcoholic beverages at select public events. City attorneys have been researching the idea with the help of City Clerk Lisa Del Piccolo. Del Piccolo cited Senate Bill 273 which passed back in 2011 that says it is possible for the city to approve of alcohol sales in a designated “entertainment” district in public under certain requirements some of which include who can serve those beverages and the amount of security needed in that specified area. DelPiccolo explains that the decision to established a so called entertainment district falls mostly on the city’s liquor licensing authority which in Montrose’s case is the City Council.
