Delta Police Donates Bikes To Partners Program

Delta police have made several kids in the area a lot happier as they donated 13 bikes, a scooter, and wagon to the Partners Program of Delta, Montrose and Ouray. These items had been kept in storage in the department’s evidence locker. Most were lost and never claimed. Kids who receive bikes will also be taught how to maintain them and keep them from getting stolen. Jamie Head, information director with Delta Police, explains the police can help reduce bicycle thefts with their free bike registration program. Similar to pet microchips, bike’s serial numbers are taken down and kept on file. Getting these bikes comes at a perfect time with the Partners Challenge Bike Ride coming up Aug. 11th giving more kids an opportunity to take part in the event.
