The BLM is now offering almost one thousand acres for oil and gas leases in Colorado. Those leases include land near the Grand Mesa National Forest and the sale starts today. The state is expected to get about 50% from the sale and rest will got to the U.S. government. At last year’s gas and oil lease sales the state manage to collect more than $150 million from royalties, rentals, and bonus bid payments. It is estimated that the state has more than 4 million acres of public mineral estate leased for oil and natural gas development which could translate into an estimated $5 billion a year in economic benefits.
