This drought has seen water levels in many lakes take a big dip and as a result Ridgway State Park has announced it will close the swim beach on Thursday.  Park Manager Kirstin Copeland explained that due to the low water levels its just not safe for swimming since dangerous rip rap and other hazards that are normally below surface are now exposed.  However, the park remains open to fishing, boating and other water recreation.  Copeland also said that despite the low water level there’s no reason why the public can not enjoy the park with its beautiful reservoir for boating, fishing, picnic and playground areas.
