A serious motorcycle car accident took place on U.S. Hwy 50 just east of Gunnison on Sunday.  According to the State Patrol, the motorcyclist was attempting to turn off the main highway onto a county road and waited for oncoming traffic while the driver of the Nissan Maxima, Josie Blackwell, kept on going and rammed into the motorcycle at what police say was “highway speed”.  The driver of the motorcycle was taken to St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Junction with what is believed to be possible life threatening injuries.  Ms. Blackwell was cited for suspicion of careless driving causing injury.  Authorities are investigating the crash and suspect that distracted driving could be the main factor.
