With Labor Day Weekend starting, the Colorado State Patrol is ending their one hundred days of heat annual campaign against Drivers under the influence. Trooper Josh Lewis with the Colorado state patrol says there will be more patrols this weekend.
There will be major checkpoints around Grand Junction this weekend as well as checkpoints throughout the state. So far this year during the one hundred days of heat campaign, which started on Memorial Day, more than two thousand drivers have been arrested for DUI in Colorado. The State Patrol has also joined a national anti-DUI campaign two weeks ago. Since then, Law Enforcement throughout the state has already averaged fifty DUI arrests a day, but only half the offices have reported statistics, so that number could rise.
