State health officials say the number of West Nile Virus cases continues to rise at very concerning rate. 51 cases have now been discovered in the state. In Mesa County 20 mosquitos tested positive for the disease. With the numbers continuing to rise Health officials have renewed their message to people to take precautions and remain vigilant. Even though the weather is cooling West Nile is still a threat on the Western Slope. Remember to use insect repellent that contains DEET, drain all standing water and wear long sleeve clothing especially during dawn and dusk hours, primetime for mosquitos.
