There could be an agreement by the end of October concerning in state water rights. A proposed deal for the Colorado River Basin involves Denver Water and more than 30 Western Slope entities. In order for the deal to go through all parties must agree and sign off on it. More and more parties are starting to come in line with the proposal with the exception of the river district and some groups in the Grand Junction area. A few key provisions still need to be ironed out. According to The Daily Sentinel, one of the provisions agreed to by most parties had Denver promising to provide more than $25 million for Western Slope projects and develop new Colorado River Basin water projects provided all basin entities approve it. As part of the overall water agreement, entities are still trying to finalize the details of an agreement designed to preserve those water flows even during plant outages.
