Yesterday afternoon in a Grand Junction courtroom, the teenager who is accused of killing his mother’s dog pled guilty. Joseph Nelson is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals which is considered a felony. At the time of the crime he was 17 years old but is being charged as an adult. His mother’s dog was a Jack Russel terrier mix that was found hanging by a leash from a pedestrian bridge. Nelson will be back in court next month for sentencing.
