State’s General Fund Revenue Higher Than Projected

The Governor’s office of State Planning and Budgeting had some good news today as they reported the state’s general fund revenue is projected to be $239 million higher in the current fiscal year than was first forecast in June.  Much of the increase is due to higher-than-expected revenue that was collected for the fiscal year 2011-12.  Although the governor was pleased with this report he did recognize that there still plenty who are struggling and many parts of the economy in Colorado are still fragile.  These excess funds in the new revenue forecast will now carry over to next year’s budget and will be transferred to the State Education Fund based on current expenditures.
