Last week, President Barack Obama declared Chimney Rock a National Monument, a move that has been in the works for years. Senator Michael Bennet, along with Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, celebrated the declaration at the monument on Friday. The designation could double the tourism to the site in five years.
