A Grand Junction couple had to spend the night in the rain on the Book Cliffs after getting lost. Donnie and Rhiannon Smith planned on going on a short hike Monday, but got lost. They notified family Monday evening, and were spotted by helicopter early yesterday morning. By ten yesterday morning they were picked up by the helicopter and brought back to the trailhead. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office says that hikers should notify others of their plans in case they get lost. The couple and their dog were uninjured.
