Two Colorado State Patrol troopers who were involved in a shooting that killed one in 2010 have been fired. Trooper Ivan Lawyer was acquitted of all charges in the death of Jason Kemp. Shortly after that acquittal, charges against Corporal Kirk Firko were dropped by the Mesa County DA. Both were fired on Tuesday by the Colorado State Patrol. The Colorado State Patrol did not comment on the firings, stating that they cannot comment on personnel matters.
