Businesses Urge Chamber and Club 20 To Reconsider Oil Shale Exploration

When it comes to development of oil shale some business owners find themselves at odds with the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce and Club 20.  A formal letter was sent to the Chamber expressing their concerns about the Colorado River that they say is already too low.  They are urging Club 20 and the Chamber that more research needs to be done on water safety and viable technology before they start exploring for oil shale.  Club 20 and the Chamber are satisfied with a report on oil shale that was release in 2008.  The concerned business feel that the 2nd draft proposed by the BLM which proposes a reduced amount of land to be explored by nearly 280 thousand acres.
