Jury selection began yesterday in the Nathan Yager murder case. About 700 potential Delta county jurors were on hand to begin the process in the January 2011 slashing death of Melinda Tackett Yager. Nathan Yager’s defense team is pleading guilty by reason of insanity. Once jury selection is done, its up to the District Attorney Dan Hotsenpiller to prove Yager was sane at the time of the murder. The dead body was found near the railroad tracks in Paonia. Jury selection continues today with several questions asked by the judge, DA and defense team. Only a limited number of jurors can be excused without cause. Yagers trial will continue over the next 4 weeks.
