Crested Butte Mountain Resort has come on board to assist The Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization by help funding their newest airline, Allegiant Air. It was the TMRAO that proposed this partnership and was asking for $150 thousand that would support marketing efforts. One of the main reasons Crested Butte Mountain Resort offered their support is because it would allow those who plan on skiing there a great and convenient option. Allegiant Airlines offers flights twice a week between Montrose and Oakland and Montrose and Phoenix. And visitors coming to Montrose Regional Airport would then have their choice of skiing in Crested Butte or Telluride. Many public officials including Jenni Sopsic, executive director of Montrose ACT see the Montrose airport as an economic hub for the area and having a prominent airline coming into the region is an added bonus.
