Free Downtown Parking In Grand Junction For The Holidays

Nov 8th @ 9:13 am in Local Events, News, Public Service by Scott Staley

GRAND JUNCTION, CO   November 8, 2012 – Beginning Thursday, November 22, through New Year’s Day, parking will once again be free in designated areas downtown.  During last night’s meeting, City Council approved bringing back this popular holiday amenity in a gesture aimed at making holiday shoppers feel welcome and encouraging them to spend more time downtown enjoying the various features the area has to offer.  Besides great shopping, downtown proudly boasts many fantastic restaurants, the Avalon Theatre, the Museum of Western Colorado, and the popular “Art on the Corner” display.  On November 16, the area will be exhibiting its holiday best as the lights up and down the Main Street Shopping Park are lit.

Parking will be free at all downtown metered spaces, and signed parking with the exceptions of loading, no parking, handicapped, and unbagged meter spaces surrounding government offices.  Free metered spaces will be clearly designated by the well-known “Season’s Greetings – Free Parking” red plastic bag.  Free parking will include the public spaces in the Rood Avenue parking garage.

If you need more information about free holiday parking downtown, please contact the City’s Customer Service Division at 244-1537.
