The main indoor pool at the Aquatic center is currently shut down due to unexpected mechanical issues. The main pool pump for the indoor pool malfunctioned and consequently pool water is not circulating or being filtered. The pump is the original pump in the Aquatic center, but it has been re-built and serviced every 4 years to ensure proper maintenance and functioning of this link in the mechanical system chain. However, despite the routine maintenance, it mal-functioned Wednesday afternoon and consequently shut the main pool down.

Without this pump functioning, the pool must be closed to ensure patron safety. The rest of the Aquatic facility will remain open as normal including the multi-purpose rooms and administrative offices. The therapy pool will be open for limited hours from 8am to 11am on Friday.

The pump is being re-built and refurbished currently and the plan is to re-install it on Saturday. It will take all day on Sunday to re-balance and filter the pool as well as bring it up to the correct temperature. So, MRD staff members are shooting for Monday morning to re-open the pool assuming no additional unforeseen issues.

MRD planned an effort to encourage donations for Sharing Ministries this weekend. In light of the current shut down, we would like individuals to still bring by a donation for Sharing Ministries today or tomorrow during business hours from 8am to 5pm or on Sunday from 3pm to 7pm. Anyone who brings in a donation will receive a complimentary one day pool pass. This is a thank you to pool patrons for their patience and kindness in light of this situation. These complimentary passes must be used by 12.31.12.

We understand the frustration this causes and we sincerely apologize. Before visiting, please call 249.7705, check the MRD facebook page, or the website at www.montroserec.com for updates.
