A recent report filed in the Denver Post explains that many child abuse workers in the state are very often overwhelmed and inexperienced and in some cases fail to take basic steps to protect children. Many of the mistakes range from paperwork to not visiting a child within the required time frame. A sobering statistic was revealed by the paper saying that in the past 6 years 72 children in the welfare system have died. In their defense the Colorado Dept. of Human Services say there is no way to determine the best caseload ratio.
