Officer Erik Engebretsen with the Hartford, Wisconsin Police Department will be participating in the 2013 Police Unity Tour to honor MPD Sergeant David J. Kinterknecht (EOW 7-25-2009).  The Police Unity Tour is a 260 mile bicycle tour, May 9th through May 12th, from New Jersey to the National Police Memorial in Washington D.C. during National Police Week. Each rider in the tour selects a fallen officer to represent during the tour.  In order to participate in the tour, the riders must raise $1,750 for their part in the tour. These funds help to offset rider costs and additional funds will go to the National Police Memorial and Museum.
Officer Engebretsen is seeking donations so that he can participate in the tour and honor Sergeant Kinterknecht. Officer Engebretsen’s parents live in Montrose and this is why Officer Engebretsen selected Sergeant Kinterknecht as an honoree.  People wanting to donate can pick up donation forms at the Montrose Police Department 434 S. 1st Street, Monday through Friday, 7am to 6pm.  If you have additional questions, you can contact Cmdr. Gene Lillard or Sgt. Paul Eller at 252-5200
