The Montrose Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the downtown business community are excited to invite everyone to come downtown for a memorable holiday event on Friday, December 14. There will be many diverse activities and great holiday shopping specials throughout the entire day.
The first event of the day is a free showing of ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ at the Montrose Regional Library (320 S 2nd St) at 10:30 AM. Bring the little ones and enjoy refreshments while watching this classic holiday movie. Hay Rides, a Scavenger Hunt, Santa’s Cabin, and a unique Elf Costume Contest get things started at 2 PM. Children are encouraged to dress up and families can explore downtown while enjoying games and snacks hosted in downtown businesses. The Canyon Gallery will provide elf costumes and a professional photographer for the Elf Costume Contest. Children 12 and under can be entered to win the contest and families can all pose together for a special holiday photo opportunity. Montrose Implement will be providing free holiday hay rides and will have a drop off point right near Santa’s Cabin. There will also be a children’s scavenger hunt with a $100 grand prize.
At 5:00 PM the Library will host another free holiday movie. Elf, starring Will Ferrell, will be shown on the big screen for all to enjoy. As the afternoon turns into evening, the activities will cater more towards adults looking for a fun night on the town. Great shopping specials continue into the evening along with food and drink specials at downtown establishments. Many downtown businesses will have special activities including wine and beer tastings, artists demonstrations and special vendors displaying their products from around the region. The Canyon Gallery will set up an Elf Photo Booth to capture fun moments between friends and couples taking advantage of elf costumes and holiday props. It will truly be a festive holiday night on the town!
