The Montrose Police Department has received renewal of their accreditation from the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP). The certificate of renewal was presented by Grand Junction Chief of Police John Camper at the regular Montrose City Council meeting on Tuesday.
To quality for the accreditation, a law enforcement agency must comply with the “Colorado Law Enforcement Professional Standards” adopted by the CACP and the County Sheriff’s of Colorado. A thorough review of department policies and an onsite compliance audit are part of the demanding qualification process. The Montrose PD first received the CACP accreditation in November 2001.
Of the 239 law enforcement agencies in Colorado, only 40 have received the certification.
