Rocky Mountain Farmers Union joins CSU’s Tri-River Extension Service, Community Banks of Colorado, and the Valley Food Partnership to sponsor the Western Colorado Food and Farm Forum, the first Western Slope producers conference on sustainable agriculture. The conference is Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Montrose County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The conference will focus on sustainably improving the production, marketing and consumption of locally grown food products. It includes more than 30 educational workshops organized by crop, livestock and management tracks.
Dr. Fred Provenza, Professor Emeritus in Wildland Resources at Utah State University, will give the keynote address. His presentation, “The Web of Life,” will describe how behavior connects humans, animals and landscapes. By applying new and more efficient practices based on behavioral principles, we can ensure that animals, plants, and businesses tied to the land thrive.
The conference will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, in Friendship Hall at the Montrose County Fairgrounds, and close at 5 p.m. To register, visit www.valleyfoodpartnership.org or call 970.240.0421 for more information.
