Save The Colorado River Campaign Donates $160,000 In 2012

For the third year the Save The Colorado River campaign has made donations to 19 environmental groups up and down the Colorado River basin that are working to protect and restore the Colorado River and its tributaries.  Just finishing up its philanthropy in 2012, the campaign donated to groups from the top of the basin all the way to the bottom – from Denver to Tucson and San Diego.

2012 saw a historic drought in the Colorado River basin that severely impacted the river’s health.  On the bright side, conservation efforts made significant progress on some fronts throughout the basin, including restoring a very small streamflow to the Colorado River Delta, helping to stop and stall the proposed Flaming Gorge Pipeline, and making sure water conservation was highlighted in the Department of Interior’s Colorado River Basin Study.

“These environmental groups are working hard to protect and restore the Colorado River and its tributaries,” said Gary Wockner, Coordinator for the Save The Colorado River Campaign. “We are proud to support them, proud of their work, and look forward to more success in 2013.”

The organizations that received donations included:
