What skier or snowboarder wouldn’t want to win a $500 gift certificate to Board and Buckle?  Come up to Powderhorn Saturday for Colorado Discover Ability’s Vertical Ski Challenge and go for the prize!  The gift certificate from Board and Buckle is good for anything in the shop, from winter ski, snowboard or snowshoeing gear to summer bikes, helmets and related equipment.

The overall individual winner of the Ski Challenge – whoever skis or boards the most vertical feet at Powderhorn Saturday — will win the grand prize.  Proceeds go to Colorado Discover Ability, the Grand Junction-based non-profit that designs and provides outdoor therapeutic recreation for disabled children, adults and veterans.  To enter, sign up at, call the CDA office at 257-1222 or register Saturday morning at Powderhorn.

There also will be a silent auction on all kinds of great gear, including two kayaks from Whitewater West, a new snowboard from Never Summer, ski parkas, a hydration pack and a goose down vest from generous donations by Grand Valley businesses. All winter long, Maison La Belle Vie will make a donation to CDA from each bottle of wine it sells.

The Vertical Ski Challenge is presented by TurnKey Consulting, Chevron, Cummins Rocky Mountain, Rocky Mountain Orthopaedics, Grand Valley National Bank, Williams Turner & Holmes and Grand Junction Subaru.
