A meeting on February 6 in Montrose will give irrigation companies and districts and ag producers, a chance to tell what they think about vairous programs offered to reduce salinity off-farm and on-farm in the Colorado River and its tributaries like the Gunnison. An independent consultant has been hired by the Bureau to find out what ag producers and water managers think about these programs.
The meeting is designed to get answers to questions like:
- If you have participated in these programs, what did you like? dislike?
- If you have not participated, why not?
- What has kept you from participating?
- Do you have ideas for how program promoters could increase participation in these programs?
The meeting will be at the Holiday Inn Express, 1391 South Townsend Avenue, Montrose from 11:30am to 2:00pm. A complimentary lunch will be served. For more information, contact MaryLou Smith at Colorado Water Institute, Colorado State University, 970-491-5899 or MaryLou.Smith@Colostate.edu.
