Coal Ridge Titans 52, Cedaredge Bruins 46: Coal Ridge battled back from an early 19-11 deficit to down Cedaredge, ending the Bruins 3-game winning streak in a game broadcast on 94 KIX. Senior Paige Ryan scored a game high 26 points at the Titans improve to 7-6 in the 3A Western Slope League and 8-8 overall. Cedaredge was led by Senior Jordan Smith with 15 points before fouling out. The Bruins fall to 6-7 in league action and 7-9 for the season.
Delta 42, Steamboat Springs 35: The Panthers outscored the Sailors 14-9 in the final quarter to pull away in a game broadcast on SUNNY 103.
Hotchkiss 43, Plateau Valley 21: The Bulldogs’ defense limited Plateau Valley to six points in the first half and 10 points in the first three quarters of their 1A/2A Western Slope League game. Hotchkiss forced 22 turnovers in the second half. “There’s really no secret to our defense,” Bulldogs coach Eric Hollembeak said. “We just play hard and get in their faces.” Katie Richards and Kylie Hodges led Hotchkiss with eight points apiece. Randy Schowalter paced Plateau Valley with six points.
Fruita Monument 66, Montezuma-Cortez 23: The Wildcats raced to a 22-5 lead after one quarter and cruised past the Panthers. Four Wildcats scored in double figures, with Mariah Love and Lauren LaBonde leading the way with 14 points apiece. Sam Parks added 11 points, and Kassidy Fair scored 10 for Fruita (15-6, 6-2 SWL).
Durango 36, Central 33: Tyler Hays led Central (5-14, 1-6 SWL) with 10 points and Robbi Termentozzi totaled nine rebounds for the Warriors.
Rifle 40, Eagle Valley 30: Chante Church made 12 of 16 free throws to finish with a team-high 19 points for Rifle. She also had four steals and Joey Kuheim led the Bears with 10 rebounds, including eight on offense, and Carsyn Copeland added eight rebounds.
Coal Ridge 56, Cedaredge 53: In a game broadcast on 94 KIX, Coal Ridge outscored the Bruins 37-26 in the second half, after trailing by 8 at the end of the first 2 quarters. Junior guard Alec Herrera dropped in 17 points to lead the Titans (3-10 in 3A Western Slope, 3-13 overall). Junior Reid Gates scored a game high 19 points for the Bruins, who have lost 4 straight (5-8 in 3A Western Slope, 7-9 overall). Aaron Henry added 10 for Cedaredge.
Steamboat Spring 35, Delta 34: In a game on Sunny 103, The Sailors edged the Panthers in 4A Western Slope League action.
Paonia 69, De Beque 23: Brian Linnell’s 14 points led the Eagles, who outscored De Beque 32-0 in the first quarter. Josiah Spano added 10 points, and Taylor Walters had four steals for Paonia, which shot 57 percent from the field.
Montezuma-Cortez 62, Fruita Monument 59: The Wildcats led 58-47 in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers closed the game with a 15-1 run over the final five-and-a-half minutes to beat the Wildcats 62-59. Spencer Fair led Fruita Monument with 19 points, Grant Stagged added 12 and Dylan Row scored 10.
Durango 39, Central 31: Central led by one point after three quarters, but the Warriors turned the ball over nine times in the final quarter and were outscored 12-3. Central made only one field goal in the final 12 minutes, 48 seconds. Edward Becoat led the Warriors with 14 points.
Glenwood Springs 49, Battle Mountain 46: Brian Burbidge scored 15 points to lead Glenwood Springs.
