San Miguel Power Association

Two positions on San Miguel Power’s seven-member board will be up for election at this year’s Annual Meeting scheduled for June 13, 2013 in Ridgway, Colo. Seats in district five and seven will be up for four-year terms.

I encourage any member within these two districts who wants to take a more active role in the cooperative to nominate themselves. Our board members represent the needs and interests of the members who live in their district. They are an important and necessary piece of the cooperative business model.

How to run for the boardDistrict five includes members whose primary electric account is located in Mountain Village, Lake Fork, Trout Lake, Ophir or the Ski Ranches. District seven includes members whose primary electric account is located from Ouray to Silverton. If you have more than one account with SMPA, please contact our customer service representatives at (970) 626-5549 or (970) 864-7311, and they can tell you which account you have set up as your primary one.

If you are interested in running for SMPA’s board of directors, you’ll need to complete our nomination petition form, which you can pick up at either of our offices. You can also contact our Executive Secretary, Toni Bertorello, at (970) 626-5549 x210 or toni@smpa.com.

Nomination petitions are due to back SMPA before close of business on April 30, 2013. In order to run for these board positions, you must be a member of SMPA, a member of the district in which you are seeking election and meet all director qualifications listed in the nomination packet.
