Norwood Boys Lose Opener 50-35 to Shining Mountain

The top seeded Shining Mountain Lions used their height to knock off the 8th seeded Norwood Mavericks 50-35 this morning at the 1A boys state basketball tournament in Broomfield. The Lions improve to 22-1 this year and will play in the state semi-finals tomorrow night at 7pm, while the Mavericks drop into the consolation bracket with a 14-8 record. Norwood will play at 11:45am tomorrow against the loser of #4 Caliche vs #5 Granada. Those teams play tonight at 7pm.
Norwood never lead in the game and trailed 14-8 after 1 period then 24-15 at halftime. Shining Mountain held a 39-27 lead after 3 periods.
