The Montrose High School girls golf team won a scramble tournament by three strokes Monday at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
The Indians’ quartet of Kala Keltz, Madison Gill, Justine Johnson and Brenna Crossley combined to shoot 67. Grand Junction followed with a 70 from its team of Maya Freismuth, Hanna Starritt, Shafer Rubalcaba and Ryann Tufly.
Eleven schools participated in the scramble, and many schools fielded two teams, while host Palisade had three teams.
As a result, Palisade took the top three places among the Western Slope League schools, which were grouped separately from the Southwestern League teams (Montrose, Grand Junction, Central and Fruita Monument).
Rounding out the SWL grouping, Central’s red team tied with both Fruita Monument teams for third place at 72, and Central’s white team was sixth at 73.
Todays tournament at Adobe Creek National Golf Course in Fruita has been cancelled. The Indians next tee it up next Monday in a tournament at Cobble Creek.
