Montrose County Sherriff’s Deputy Injured in Early Morning Domestic Call

Montrose, COLO.  March 25, 2013 – Montrose County Sherriff’s office replied to a domestic violence call early Monday morning.  The deputies who responded met with the female victim and proceeded to the residence to talk with the male party.

When the deputies knocked on the door, the suspect fired two rounds at the deputies.  One deputy was shot and taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and is currently in surgery.  “We are unaware of the deputy’s condition at this moment, but will keep the public apprised,” said Montrose County Sherriff  Rick Dunlap.

The Montrose County Sherriff’s office is working with the city’s SWAT Team, Special Response Team as well as Delta and Mesa County Sherriff’s offices to apprehend the suspect.

At this time, Montrose County is not releasing the names of involved parties.  Information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
