Daniel Culver, an 8th grade student, at Columbine Middle School competed and won 1st place in the Junior Division Engineering at the 2013 Colorado Science and Engineering Fair this past weekend in Ft. Collins. His experiment involved designing and producing a cook stove that generated convection currents to aid the combustion process to reduce harmful by-products. The motivation of this investigation was to construct a biomass cook stove that does not release dangerous quantity of carbon monoxide when used indoors because 2 million people die each year due to carbon monoxide.
