Tess Skoe, a 2013 MHS graduate, has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 Duane H. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship school year. Skoe plans to attend Colorado Mesa University in the fall. Her plan is to obtain a BS degree in exercise science with a minor in physical education and then pursue a master’s degree in physical therapy.
(pronounced skoy – rhymes with toy)
Cunningham was a graduate of Montrose High School and a long-time resident of Montrose. This scholarship was established in Duane’s memory to recognize an MHS athlete who plans to pursue a degree in higher education and who demonstrates the same qualities as those for which Duane was recognized: a value of education, a strong work ethic, integrity and personal responsibility. Tess exemplifies these qualities as demonstrated by her outstanding academic record; her leadership as a team captain for the MHS varsity basketball team as well as an assistant 6th gr. basketball coach; and her history of volunteer work. Tess accomplished all of this while maintaining a part-time job.
