Montrose Police Chief Tom Chinn confirms that the owners of an empty sedan shot up along Cascade Main Street Thursday morning did file a report the weekend before the car shooting regarding their residence being shot at.  Chinn says he can’t jeopardize the investigation by prematurely releasing too many details before detectives conclude their probe.

A witness to the shooting tells Colorado Radio that the gunfire erupted suddenly and as quick as shots were fired, the suspects fled in their vehicle.

The hunt for the white Chevy pickup believed involved in the shooting is ongoing.  Chinn says it may have had one passenger in addition to the driver.  It’s not clear which of the truck’s occupants fired the shots or exactly what type of gun was used.  The owner of the vehicle had been arrested prior to the most recent shooting for alleged drug-DUI and Chinn confirms it’s possible the incidents are related.

Anyone with information on the shooting should contact Montrose Police at 252-5200.
