The sun is forecast to be shining in Montrose this Thursday and that’s good news for the city’s Wastewater Treatment plant as it launches its first ever solar electrical generation system to the tune of $8-thousand in annual savings. Public Works Director John Harris says the project is a win-win-win:  with the city having had to only provide money for a small percentage of the overall cost in the form of matching funds, a local grassroots business—Bright Leaf Power doing the work—and the payback to citizens in the form of ultimate cost savings with the utilization of the state of the art “green technology.”

Harris says that if all goes well with the Wastewater Plant project, similar solar assist technology may be installed at other city sites with the City Council and City Manager’s approval.  The unveiling is now slated to happen this Thursday at the plant at 11 a.m.
