The Montrose City Council met for their regular Work Session and Council Meeting on Tuesday and tackled a busy schedule, tabling some items. After some discussion Councilors voted in favor renewing the liquor license for Sam’s Tavern on Cascade Avenue, and issuing a new liquor license for a new brew pub on East Main Street.
The dais tabled discussion on awarding a bid related to the widening of East Oak Grove Road so that the width of the roadway is a uniform 80-feet wide. The Council also tabled the appointment of two members to the city’s Downtown Development Board so Councilors can interview applicants Kirk Hartman, Bon Brown, and Chris Adams before making their selections.
The Montrose City Council has given its blessing and authorized a permit for the annual 4th of July Fireworks display launched from Sunset Mesa. Rotary Club representative Ken Sherbenou addressed the Council and represented the all volunteer organization at the meeting. Sherbenou says Rotary is not seeking any funding from the city for the pyrotechnic display, but community members who wish to donate to Rotary to help defray the costs are always welcome.
Councilors have also unanimously endorsed modifying the city’s off-street parking regulations for drive-through restaurants. Drive-through eateries had been required to provide twice the number of off-street parking spaces, based on the square footage of the establishment, than non drive-through restaurants and the change in regulations makes the requirement the same for both types of restaurants.
