The unregulated inflow of water to Blue Mesa Reservoir is now just 50-percent of its 30-year average, or roughly 340-thousand acre feet.

Bureau of Reclamation officials increased the water being released from both Crystal Reservoir and the Gunnison Tunnel by 100 cubic feet per second over the spring to help keep up with irrigation demands and maintain the flow of the river downstream of the Gunnison Tunnel.  The release rate at Crystal Reservoir peaked at 1300 cfs.

National Weather Service Forecasters project drought like conditions to continue in the west and southwestern United States with below average rainfall throughout the region.
