Highway-50 has reopened in Canon City near the scene of the Royal Gorge Fire.  The Royal Gorge Fire has now consumed over 3100-acres and is 40-percent contained.  All evacuees displaced by the Royal Gorge Fire were allowed to return to their homes on Thursday night.

A 7-acre fire is now burning near Rifle believed to have erupted Thursday night on Bureau of Land Management land was extinguished on Friday.  Breezy conditions and Red Flag warnings have greeted fire fighters fanned out across the state battling multiple blazes.

A startling 360 structures, including many homes, have been lost to flames in the Black Forest Fire burning along the Front Range.  Strong winds have pushed flames there to within Colorado Springs city limits, forcing the evacuation of several thousand residents in the path of the inferno.  More than 800 personnel are battling that blaze.

The Big Meadows Fire is located 5-miles north of Grand Lake on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park—about four-and-a-half miles from the Green Mountain Trailhead.  The fire is roughly 400-acres big and has forced the closure of several hiking trails in the area but isn’t threatening any structures.

A forecast for cooling temperatures and relative humidity this weekend are expected to aid fire fighters battling the blazes.
