Connect for Health Colorado Western Slope Outreach Coordinator Linda Gann addressed a capacity crowd at the Montrose Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday—discussing the background and future of health care coverage for Coloradoans. The organization is a public-nonprofit agency dedicated to increasing access, affordability, and choice when it comes to health care coverage in the Rocky Mountain state.
With the passage of the Affordable Care Act by Congress the individual mandate that all Colorado residents have health insurance is about to kick-in. Gann says that beginning on October 1st Connect for Health Colorado will provide a one-stop online market place for individuals and businesses to shop for and compare health insurance plans. The website will also help individuals determine if they qualify for a new federal cost-saving program, based on income, to reduce the cost of premiums, co-pays and deductibles.
In May Governor John Hickenlooper announced that it was the state’s goal to make Colorado the healthiest state in the nation.
