Work continues to keep the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival going. The annual event is slated for August 3rd and is now moving forward under the guidance of a newly formed committee. Town leaders relinquished control of the festival along with their ability to finance it during a recent Town Council meeting. Olathe Town Clerk Bobbi Sale says the newly formed committee will spearhead fundraising efforts for the festival, but she anticipates the yearly summertime event will simplify in its approach and return to its roots.
Sale says volunteers and donations are what is needed to keep the festival thriving each year, along with community support. Historically, thousands of local residents and visitors attend the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival annually.
