(Montrose, CO)   Current Montrose City Councilor and former Mayor Thomas Smits made a surprise announcement during Tuesday’s City Council meeting and said he will resign from the dais.  Smits represents District-1 in Montrose and plans on moving to a new District within the city, making him ineligible to continue representing District-1.  The outgoing 37-year old told fellow Councilors that he had originally planned on moving after his current term expires, but couldn’t pass up on a recent opportunity for a home that will better accommodate his brood.
