A contingency of veterans and caring individuals escorted the Wall that Heals from east of Montrose into city limits on Tuesday. A replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall—the travelling memorial will be on display in Montrose at Cerise Park through Saturday, July 8th. The moving monument features over 55-thousand names. The wall is coming Montrose thanks to the efforts of a lot of local veterans and a very patriotic community.
The theme of this year’s 4th of July Parade along Main Street is “A Salute to Our Veterans.” Another example of local patriotism is the success of the recent Operation Sweet Tooth Radioathon on KUBC. The annual fundraiser netted over $56-thousand to purchase and mail a variety of items to deployed U.S. troops.
