So far no takers:  not a single application packet had been completed and turned in as of Wednesday to fill a vacancy on the Montrose City Council.  All residents who are eligible to register to vote and have lived in the city’s First District for the past 12 consecutive months qualify to be considered to join the city’s governing body.  The 5-member Council conducts Work Sessions and regular City Council meetings bimonthly.  The vacancy left by the recent resignation of one of the Council members means Councilors need to appoint someone to sit at the table with them and govern through April, 2014.

Montrose City Council terms are staggered so a majority turnover in the makeup of the Council is possible every 2-years.  Whoever is appointed to join the dais will work with District-2 representative Carol McDermott whose term expires in April, 2014, Bob Nicholson whose term expires in April, 2016, Cathy Ellis whose term expires in April, 2016, and Mayor Judy Ann Files whose term is over in April, 2014.
