U.S. Marshals captured a murder suspect in Denver on Thursday who has been on the run for over 2-decades. Supervisory Deputy Charlie Ahmad says Jose Luis Aguilar is suspected of gunning down a man at a rodeo in Plainview, Texas in 1992. Ahmad says the U.S. Marshal’s Office was contacted by law enforcement in Texas regarding information they had received that Aguilar was living in the Front Range under an alias. The information proved to be correct and Marshals took Aguilar into custody after keeping him under surveillance and confirming they had the right man.
Ahmad says law enforcement confirmed the suspect’s actual identity by fingerprint analysis. Aguilar will be extradited back to the lone star state from Denver to face Texas justice.
