A Western Slope resident is being honored for his extraordinary record of volunteerism with youth.  For nearly 5-decades Grand Junction resident Dave Mantlo has spent numerous days, weekends, and countless hours volunteering with local Little League baseball and softball teams.  In 1964 Mantlo started his stint with the Grand Mesa Little League. He’s coached, served as league president, umpired and done just about everything in between, including shepherding his five children through the Little League program.

Mantlo will be recognized at a ceremony during the 67th Little League Baseball World Series, which begins on Thursday, Aug. 15th in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with the Championship Game scheduled for 3 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 25th.
