3 Confirmed Cases of West Nile in 7 Days

Delta County Health officials say there have now been three confirmed cases of West Nile Virus in the past 7-days.  One mosquito bite victim has to be hospitalized.  The most recent incidents bring the total number of confirmed cases of West Nile Virus to six statewide. 

Health officials urge people to wear long sleeves when outdoors in mosquito country, use an insect repellant like Deet, don’t keep standing water around residences, be aware that the peak time to encounter mosquitoes, which transmit the virus, is around sunrise and sunset.
