David Romero is Montrose’s newest City Councilor. Romero was one of three applicants who threw his hat in the ring for consideration to replace former Mayor and Councilor Thomas Smits who resigned in June. Smits resigned after locating a residence to move into out of the district he represented.
Romero is a 1993 graduate of Mesa State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. He has 7-years experience as a State Probation Officer and has spent the past 7-years working as a Probation Supervisor in Delta and Gunnison counties. Romero says he has lived in Montrose 37 years, almost his entire life and that he wants to help the community in a number of ways.
Romero was sworn in to the Council during the Regular Meeting after his selection. He’ll serve as the city’s 1st District representative through April next year.
